Donor Story - David Horvitz
I joined JFLA back in 2015. The mission of offering a helping hand, not a handout, resonated with me, and I especially liked that the donations were recycled, not consumed. I have been a practicing Certified Financial Planner for nearly 20 years, so it’s in my nature to advocate for financial health. However, for the first ten years of my professional life, I was an elementary school teacher, primarily teaching math to fifth and sixth graders in Los Angeles. I seeded the Horvitz Teachers’ Loan Fund to honor the teaching professionals from my previous career. Despite their crucial role as educators of the next generation, teachers are often underpaid and overburdened by financial stress. It is my hope that the Teachers’ Loan Fund will help alleviate some of their financial challenges so they can continue their vital work with greater peace of mind.
