JFLA Supports Disability Pride Month

July brings with it the warmth of summer, a time ripe with possibility and growth. It's also Disability Pride Month, a period dedicated to reflection, recognition, and celebration of the diversity within the disability community.

This month is not just about acknowledgment but about pride in the unique journeys and contributions of individuals with disabilities. At JFLA, we're all about empowering people, and Disability Pride Month aligns perfectly with our mission to provide assistance where it's needed most.

Disability Pride Month started in 1990, coinciding with the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This landmark civil rights law prohibits discrimination based on disability, ensuring that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. This month reaffirms the idea that disabilities are a natural and beautiful part of human diversity.

That's why JFLA is proud to stand with the disability community, supporting them through our loan programs designed to meet the unique needs of children with disabilities.

At JFLA, we understand that living with or supporting someone with a disability often comes with expenses that can stretch a family’s budget. Whether it's funding for diagnostic expenses, purchasing durable medical equipment, or home improvements to increase accessibility, our loan programs are structured to provide a helping hand.

We offer loans for the purchase of specialized vehicles that make transportation easier, and for educational needs such as shadows or inclusion specialists to ensure every child has access to learning that fits their needs.

Here are just a few examples of how JFLA loans can make a difference:

  • Behavioral supports can be crucial for children whose development benefits from tailored intervention strategies.
  • Diagnostic expenses pave the way for understanding a child's unique needs so that they can get the appropriate support.
  • Funding for specialized vehicles means families can stay mobile and active, without worrying about transportation barriers.

Each of these loans furthers our goal of inclusion and support for those with disabilities, echoing the values of Disability Pride Month.

As we celebrate this important month, we also recognize that supporting the disability community is a year-round commitment. The loans we provide offer more than financial assistance; they offer peace of mind, opportunities for growth, and the chance for individuals with disabilities to live with dignity and pride.
